Moulin Rouge! - Baz Luhrmann (2001, DVD)
I've got to say right up front that I don't like musicals. At all. (Dancer In The Dark gets a pass because the songs are cast as the main character's flights of fancy, and the story would stand up well without them. Nightmare Before Christmas gets a pass because it's animated, targeted at kids, and is just insanely cool.) So, Moulin Rouge isn't going to make any top-ten lists for me. However, I was entertained while watching it, and I think the concept and execution was pretty brilliant as musicals go.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch - John Cameron Mitchell (2001, DVD)
Excellent movie. Impossible to describe. If you're at all sympathetic to transexuality, you must see it.
