The Child Garden, Geoff Ryman
A REALLY good story. Non-linear (does anyone write with linear timelines anymore?), elegantly crafted, and full of engaging characters. Interesting future-tech slipped in here and there. Bonus if you were ever a theatre-geek - this is well-rounded scifi. (With Polar Bears!)

Forever Free, Joe Haldeman
The Forever War is a book everyone should read. This was enjoyable, but had a disappointing ending. If you're a Haldeman fan, go for it.

The Marriage of Sticks, Jonathan Carroll
Reincarnation, mysterious coincidences, a wise, old woman-seer - a story woven through a pleasing tradition/superstition named by the title.

Arrowsmith, Sinclair Lewis
This is a GREAT book. The story of a young man in the early 1900s and his struggle for Science and Truth. In Time, Love, Memory Weiner discusses what a profound impact this book had on Seymour Benzer - and then how Benzer's life paralleled the story. Well worth the read.

Signal to Noise, Eric S. Nylund
Amusing biotech-wire-net-head scifi. Sometimes hard to get through, sometimes very funny.

Distraction: A Novel, Bruce Sterling
Engaging and crammed full of political doublespeak. Reminded me strongly of Stephen Bury's Interface. Recommended.
