It's a lovely Saturday morning. I'm sitting in Moonlight Cafe wtih Carol and Russell, enjoying a bagel with hummus and cucumbers, and a nice hot cup of coffee.
Drops of Jupiter begins to play. I give the characteristic unhappy-squeal of a QuickTime codec tester/engineer, watching every frame of the video flash in my mind's eye.
Russell and Carol tease me. I make a crack about how certain songs not only have frame-by-frame playback for me, but definitely are associated with different releases of QT and their codec. I make a further crack about Building a Mystery.
We move on to other topics.
Drops of Jupiter spirals its way to closure, and the first few bars of the next song cause all three of us to shriek with the irony and my personal torment. Yes. Building a Mystery.
I guess it wasn't truly a waking nightmare, as that would have been followed by I'm Just a Girl and Seen the Doctor, but it was enough to make me sit and wonder for just a few moments if that giant compression engine in the sky had it out for me.Posted by shock at April 26, 2004 10:06 AM
