The satisfaction gleaned from a series of small home improvements sometimes seems out of proportion with the efforts (but I'm not complaining). Yesterday was full of them, and I went to bed a very happy monkey.

clockfaceweb.jpgWoke up, had coffee, and whipped up some ginger-apricot scones. The MovingWorm came over and delivered the new coffee table, and we had a lovely visit and photo inspection. Zoomed over to the Leckmans for a visit with Beca, Tad & Annika. A fruitful stop at Cole Hardware, where I bought lots of good stuff, but resisted picking up any new plants.

Came home, ran to the grocery, made tasty panini for lunch (ciabatta rolls with smoked turkey, gorgonzola, arugula, and fig balsamic), and then ran off to Home Depot with Beca. Picked up paint chips, more house stuff, and completely failed to resist the plants: I acquired SIX new houseplants and pots.

The rest of my day was housey. Matched the paint on the walls in the kitchen. With the perfect walll bins for my oils & vinegars (score 1 for Cole!), I can finally finish up the kitchen rework. (Ralph Lauren Oatmeal, semi-gloss, for those counting.) Installed hooks inside cabinetry for my chiniosery. Repotted the plants and installed them (all but one) in their new locations. Mopped up all the dirt I tracked in. Helped Russell hang his fabulous new clock. Made a tasty dinner (Pizza with hummus, ground lamb with cinnamon, pine nuts, sun dried tomatoes, and feta cheese), saw the eclipse from the top of Bernal Hill Park with Chris & Russell, and finally, collapsed.

More is planned for today - a few days to work on the house is a lovely way to end a long vacation. I told Danielle last night that I'm both a city girl and a homebody, all rolled into one. I think that about sums it up.

Yay! Sounds fun and productive :)

And I totally understand the homebody after traveling. I spent most of my first weekend at home getting my house more in order. Mine was more about cleaning than major improvements, but I still felt so much better when things were out of the chaos.

Can't wait to see all the improvements in person!
