pollage

I don't usually post my results to these things, but this was too amusing not to share:

alone in the moonlight

That memory meme that's running around LJ: wanna play with me?

Post a memory of me in the comments. It can be anything. Then post this to your journal and find out what people remember of you.

waking nightmares

It's a lovely Saturday morning. I'm sitting in Moonlight Cafe wtih Carol and Russell, enjoying a bagel with hummus and cucumbers, and a nice hot cup of coffee.

Drops of Jupiter begins to play. I give the characteristic unhappy-squeal of a QuickTime codec tester/engineer, watching every frame of the video flash in my mind's eye.

Russell and Carol tease me. I make a crack about how certain songs not only have frame-by-frame playback for me, but definitely are associated with different releases of QT and their codec. I make a further crack about Building a Mystery.

We move on to other topics.

Drops of Jupiter spirals its way to closure, and the first few bars of the next song cause all three of us to shriek with the irony and my personal torment. Yes. Building a Mystery.

I guess it wasn't truly a waking nightmare, as that would have been followed by I'm Just a Girl and Seen the Doctor, but it was enough to make me sit and wonder for just a few moments if that giant compression engine in the sky had it out for me.

miniminimini - ska mini!
checkers.jpg

I just put down the deposit and ordered our new car - a 2005 Mini Cooper! It will be transmitted to the factory shortly, and then I get to track it for the next few months while it's being built in Oxford. August is going to be a good month this year - Baby Leckman will arrive, Russell's birthday, our anniversary, and A NEW CAR. (Black. Checkerboard roof. Chrome bumpers and mirrors and things. Red interiors. I will be so styling! Anyone looking to buy a 1995 Honda Del Sol?)

two walks

This year, I'm doing two fundraising walks! Both are for great causes, that I feel strongly about supporting. Will you join me or sponsor me?

The first is on May 2nd, and is a "Run for the Altar" walk to support Marraige Equality California, a non-profit, grassroots organization working to secure the freedom and the right of same-sex couples to enter into legally-recognized civil marriage, having all the federal and state benefits and responsibilities which that entails.
sponsor me - Run for the altar!

The second walk is one I've participated in before, and am proud to be supporting again - the AIDS Walk San Francisco. This disease isn't going away fast enough - and I'll keep walking to support the SF Aids Foundation and other organizations helping AIDS patients and survivors throughout the Bay Area.
sponsor me - SFAW!

Done, done, done!
And my boss even sent me home early.

Now: Tall pilsner glass full of charbay grapefruit & odwalla greyhound. Bliss.

day one

How I started my time on campus today, 9:30am:
Boss: I am just so pissed.

How I ended my time on campus today, 6:45pm:
Walking back into my office after a long and painful meeting, to an email that says: "First, comments on the slides, which by the way look amazingly good, especially for someone who isn't even part of the engineering team".

You can extrapolate the middle.
