we interrupt this comic book project...

"I deeply resent the way this administration makes me feel like a nutbar conspiracy theorist." -- Teresa Nielsen Hayden

Context Point 1: Porter Goss: "I have an excellent idea where [Osama bin Laden] is ... when you go to the very difficult question of dealing with sanctuaries in sovereign states, you're dealing with a problem of our sense of international obligation, fair play."

Context Point 2: Karl Rove: "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers. ... Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals."

Hypothesis: Rove's statement is bait for some high profile Democrat - Dean, Kerry, Reid, Clinton, or Clinton - to come out swinging and ask the White House, if they're so serious about the war on terrorism, why they aren't going after Osama. The White House's scripted reply will be "He's in Iran. Let's roll."

"After the house fell silent... after I saw them, I pieced it together... my father must have died first. Mother was always better with a sword. Always a move ahead."

"Father and mother were both down there fighting for their lives..."

My pencils aren't very consistent in line weight. For this and the previous teaser panel, I slapped the scan upside the head with Photoshop's Auto Levels command so they'd read a little more clearly, but it makes them even more uneven. The plan is to scan all, then do "inks" using a Wacom tablet in Photoshop.

large format scanner?

Anyone have a scanner that can take 11x14 or larger pages? I can use one at work, but...

I get a lot less done during the week than on weekends. It seems like slow progress on one hand, but on the other, I'm really re-learning how to draw.

I pencilled page 10 first, because it had more boats and less people than any of the other so-far-scripted pages, and I had lots of boat reference and not enough people reference yet. This is Kaleja seeing herself in a dream.
