Twenty-two years ago, the Seeker, a ship under the command of a young Raskan officer named Jai I'San, sailing upon the Endless Sea, was attacked and taken by a Velhon privateer, the Djane. As they sailed for Velhon lands, I'San challenged the commander of the Velhon prize crew, a woman named Dylaan Lutrec, to a duel for control of Seeker. Dylaan was an exceptional swordswoman; Jai should not have been able to best her, but in the end she yielded.
